PROFILE
Education is the asset that will help your
children meet the challenges of his or her future, a place of
technological and social change where multiple careers during a working
lifetime will be the norm.
Warnbro Community High School combines the best traditions of
academic education with innovative programs and course selection
opportunities. The school is at the forefront of education with a
dynamic and comprehensive focus on critical and creative thinking,
research and problem solving in a technology-rich environment. Each
student develops and consolidates skills and processes in eight Learning
Areas: the Arts; English; Health and Physical Education; Languages Other
Than English; Mathematics; Science; Studies of Society and Environment
and Technology and Enterprise. Skill enhancement and Talented and Gifted
programs, alongside our many extra-curricular activities, cater for a
wide range of student interests and needs. As our name suggest the
idea of community is central to the success and ethos of the school. We
pride ourselves in serving the area with programs that deliver quality
education, with facilities that we share with the community, and through
operational structures that allow parent and community involvement. The
school believes that the best educational outcome is achieved in
partnership with parents. The progress of each student is carefully
monitored and parents are kept well informed by regular reports,
communication through the student diary and letters home, phone contact
and parent-teacher evenings. Associate Principals, Student Services and
Learning Area consultants, Learning Area teachers and School
Psychologist are available by appointment to discuss matters of concern.
The idea of forward educational practice is an essential part of the
community input and Warnbro Community High School is exploring this concept through three
major focus areas:
- The Arts
- Environmental Science
- Technology
In recognition of these focus areas the Department of Education has
granted special school status to Warnbro in Environmental Science and
Technology. The secondary education offered to each student at Warnbro
Community High School enables for the discovery and development of their
strengths and talents, identification and provision for their special
needs and the laying of foundations for their post-secondary goals and
aspirations. As educators we seek to provide the very best preparation
for your child's entry into further study, the workforce and
increasingly complex world. The decision making processes and adaptable
skills developed by your child at Warnbro Community High School will lay
the foundation for life-long learning, self-discipline, active
participation and creation of tomorrow's opportunities. The enrolment
of approximately 1,600 students is divided into two schools providing
appropriate curriculum and specialist programs to meet the stages of
learning development. Middle School (years 8 and 9) caters for the needs
of the adolescent and focuses on teaching broad skills and processes
while Senior School (Years 10, 11 and 12) focuses on the needs of the
young adult and is where students begin to select course pathways, gain
work experience and take special programs in the preparation for life
after school. Our time-table comprises of 24 periods per week. An
extended school day provides social benefits and better access to
specialist rooms, with Senior School periods operating from 7.40am until
2.05pm and Middle School periods operating from 8.45am until 3.10pm.
Pastoral Care and the fostering of positive relationships is the basis
of our school structures. These structures and our special curriculum
foci are outlined within this web site. Please explore the tableau of
