Oliver Hill Gun Turret for projectilemotion, how the tunnels were constructed, the power station and so much more.

Students will:

  • Learn and practice the skill of estimation, an essential component of physics.
  • Experience and be made aware of Physics in the real world.
  • Calculate/measure Physics related experiences
  • Take part in an intensive tutorial session.

Location: Rottnest Island
Offered: Year 12 and Year 11
Cost (if any) $150 - $200

Robotics Program

Robotics Club is an after school science club that enables students to build and program robots.  Students use Lego Mindstorm kits and Robolab software to build and program robots to perform specific functions.  The program is offered to students selected by their teachers based on either their demonstrated academic performance, leadership skills or willingness to participate.

Students will

  • Participate in a team situation to build and program robots
  • Improve communication and leadership skills
  • Develop problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Develop an awareness of the application of Physics, Information Technology and Engineering in the workforce
  • Compete and network with students from other schools in team challenges and competitions eg: RoboCup Junior Australia

Location: Science Foyer/Sc Room 7

When:  Senior School Thursday 2:05 - 3:00pm, Middle School Thursday 3:10-4:00pm

National Robotics Competition for school students

RoboCup Junior Australia is the national Science and Technology cross curricula activity that trains students to be problem solvers, versatile thinkers and manually creative.  RoboCup caters for all levels of expertise, the competition events are designed to allow students to set their own goals within a framework of co-operation and teamwork.
